Help with the whole conversation

Porcupine helps you say the hard thing, read what comes back, and work it out, on your own or together.

Porcupine isn't open yet. Here's how it will work.

Say the hard thing without starting a fight

Write it however it comes out. Porcupine helps you find words they can hear. Then it's yours to send however you like.

1Say it raw

Only you see this part. Type it, say it out loud, or start from a message they sent.

2Get words they can hear

Porcupine keeps your point and drops the quills. Adjust it until it sounds like you, and approve every word.

3Send it your way

Send it yourself by text or any app, or get a first line ready to say it in person. Want help on both sides? Send it through Porcupine and you both get a coach. See how ↓

Just for you

Nothing gets sent
You need to get it out first

Get it all out privately, see what's underneath, then let it go or turn it into a message.

What about the other person?

What people usually ask before they bring someone else in.

“Won't they feel ganged up on?”

They get a coach too

Porcupine helps Sam the same way it helps you, with private tips about their own words.

“They'll never sign up for an app.”

They don't have to

They tap your link, read your message and reply in their browser. No download, no password.

“Won't it sound fake?”

It still sounds like you

Porcupine keeps your point and as much of your own wording as it can. Edit any line, and nothing goes until you approve it.

“What if they don't want to?”

Saying no takes one tap

They can answer Not right now, I'd rather talk in person, or No thanks, without signing up. You can still send your words yourself, with nothing about AI added.

What a porcupine chat feels like

A preview of how it will work: one conversation with Sam, from the first message to how it ended. Pause any time, tap anything with a dashed edge or “why it helps” to open it, and switch to Sam's side to see what they see.

Monday, 8:02 PMBefore you send
You send it

You wrote it raw and approved the version Sam reads. Only that version is sent.

Say what you really feel. Only what you approve is shared.

You both see

  • Every message, as its sender approved it
  • Porcupine's shared tips and the summary of how it ended
  • Whether each of you says you feel heard

The other person never sees

  • Your first draft, before Porcupine rewrote it
  • What I changed, your private tips and your debrief
  • What you've learned with each person
Never used to train AI

Not by us, and we'll only use AI services that don't train on what we send.

Not therapy

It's for everyday disagreements. For deeper struggles, a counselor can help in ways an app can't.

If someone's safety is at risk, this isn't the right tool. Contact local emergency services or a crisis line. If a message sounds like it's about someone's safety, Porcupine pauses and points you to support first. It's a safeguard, not a guarantee.

Questions about how it works

When can I use it?

Porcupine isn't open yet. We'll invite people as spots open up, so sign up to be one of the first. The Quills Check, the guides and all our free tools are open now.

Does Porcupine tell either of us things privately?

Sometimes, and only when it helps. Private tips are about your own words and how to hear the other person, never how to win. You both know they exist, and neither of you sees the other's.

Does every conversation have to end in an agreement?

No. Sometimes the win is understanding each other, or just getting the hard part said. Porcupine sums up how it ended, and it's done when you both confirm.

Do we have to be online at the same time?

No. Many conversations happen over hours or days, and you get a recap if you've been away.

Is it only for conversations by text?

No. You can work the whole thing out in Porcupine, or use it to get the hardest part said well, then pick it up on the phone or in person.

Is it only for hard things?

No. Not everything worth saying is hard. Porcupine can help you say the kind things too: a thank you, what you appreciate about someone, or that you noticed the effort they put in. You send it yourself.
